The following activities need to be completed before a researcher is granted access to the NBTC labs or is trained on NBTC equipment. Contact NBTC staff with any questions about the sign up process.

1)  Fill out the New User Registration form and submit the project description attached to that form. Users without a Cornell account number must instead submit a purchase order (see the sidebar on the right).

2) Complete and pass the Cornell EH&S/CULEARN online courses in Laboratory Safety AND Chemical Waste Disposal, if you haven't done that previously. These courses can be accessed via the EHS page on Health and Safety Training. (Note: Users who have been trained to use the CNF clean rooms do not need to take the EH&S online courses, but you will need to provide verification of CNF training.)

3) Some safety training is required in order to get access to the NBTC labs. For safety training in the second floor labs, contact Penny Burke (pd28@cornell.edu), our technician.

This training typically happens every Wednesday morning from 9-10 am and begins Duffield 350. Please arrive promptly and follow the NBTC Dress Code. Steps 1 and 2 will need to be completed prior to attending the safety orientation.

If all three steps are complete, lab access should be granted within about 24 hours.

If you would like training on a particular piece of equipment, check the NBTC equipment list and contact the tool manager for an appointment.
